Job summary

Cornerstone Home Lending, a division of Cornerstone Capital Bank, seeks an SVP of Underwriting to lead enterprise-wide underwriting strategy and execution. You will drive scalable processes, partner with Sales, Risk, and Technology, and shape a high-performing team across multiple lending channels.

You will guide policy interpretation, compliance, and risk management, while delivering faster, higher-quality decisions aligned with growth objectives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive mortgage underwriting experience, with 7+ years in leadership roles.
• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Experience with agency, government, and investor underwriting guidelines (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and risk management.
• Proven ability to lead within a complex, matrixed organization and drive transformation.
• Track record of delivering measurable improvements in quality, service levels, productivity.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute a forward-looking underwriting vision aligned with growth and risk.
• Lead enterprise collaboration across Sales, Operations, Capital Markets, Risk, Compliance, and Technology.
• Build and evolve a high-performing underwriting organization to support multi-channel growth.
• Establish performance frameworks, KPIs, and accountability measures.
• Drive transformation to improve scalability, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
• Oversee end-to-end underwriting across products and channels with automation enhancements.
