Job summary

Citi in London seeks a seasoned Lead Engineering Developer to architect and deliver AI-enabled platform capabilities. You will work closely with business partners to translate problems into technical solutions, guiding the product strategy and mentoring the team while maintaining high software quality.

The role blends hands-on coding in Python/Java with leadership, in a hybrid setup, and offers exposure to cutting-edge Agentic AI workflows within a global COO/CTO context.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a senior developer or technical lead.
• Strong background in object-oriented programming, design, and architecture.
• Proficiency in Java or Python; ideally both; Postgres/Oracle experience.
• Experience with Generative AI and AI Agents (ADK).
• Practical CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins, Tekton, Harness, etc.).
• Ability to drive technical strategy and roadmaps across teams.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and collaboration.
• Foundational knowledge of networking, REST APIs, databases, and CLI.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence at MD-levels.
• Line management and team leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead technical components end-to-end aligned with business goals.
• Guide team members; may evolve to formal line management.
• Translate business problems into technical solutions using AI capabilities.
• Set platform strategy and technical roadmap with senior stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure robust software quality through reviews.
• Write production-quality code in Python or Java and build scalable platforms.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments.
• Engage with business partners to deliver outcomes and drive improvements.
