Acrisure Re in New York, NY (Hybrid) seeks a VP of Catastrophe Modeling to lead the analytics team, drive strategic catastrophe risk analyses, and support reinsurance decision-making.

The role combines technical leadership with client-facing duties, translating complex model outputs into actionable business insights for brokers, clients, actuaries, and data scientists. Mentorship and cross-team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of catastrophe modeling, insurance analytics, reinsurance analytics, or related experience, including senior technical or leadership roles.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial catastrophe modeling platforms, preferably Moody's RMS and Verisk.
• Ability to translate technical modeling results into clear business insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead catastrophe modeling and portfolio risk analyses across major natural catastrophe perils (hurricane, earthquake, convective storm, wildfire, flood, winter storm).
• Oversee modeling using Moody's RMS, Verisk, and third-party or proprietary models with proper assumptions and QC.
• Analyse key catastrophe risk metrics: AAL, PML, EP curves, losses, return-periods.
• Conduct sensitivity testing, model comparisons, portfolio concentration analyses, and validation of results.
• Partner with brokers to evaluate catastrophe reinsurance structures (attachment points, limits, expected recoveries, retained losses).
• Support clients in evaluating reinsurance strategies, portfolio optimization, underwriting decisions, and capital allocation.
• Serve as a senior catastrophe risk advisor in meetings and executive reviews.
• Communicate model assumptions and uncertainties to technical and non-technical audiences.
