Job summary

Polk County Information Technology Division seeks a Senior Telecommunications Network Specialist (Voice Engineer) to design, implement, and support enterprise VoIP and UC infrastructure. The role collaborates with IT leadership and teams to ensure secure, reliable voice services and integration with collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities include managing dial plans, SIP trunks, voice policies, SBCs, gateways, and E911, with on-call support and travel as needed.

Qualifications

Four years of experience supporting large telecommunications networks, including VOIP and PBX/KEY systems.
SSCA® or CTNS certification required or equivalent.
High school diploma or equivalent; Florida driver’s license within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

Designs, configures, implements, and maintains enterprise VoIP and unified communications platforms.
Develops dial plans, call routing logic, SIP trunk configurations, and voice policies.
Administers PBX/VoIP systems, voicemail, SBCs, gateways, E911, IVR, call recording, and paging solutions.
Interfaces voice platforms with LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, and cloud services.
Monitors and troubleshoots voice quality, latency, jitter, packet loss, and signaling issues.
