Job summary

HTC Global Services is seeking a Senior VMware Infrastructure Engineer in Columbia, SC for designing, implementing, and maintaining VMware solutions within a government IT environment. The role emphasizes stability, security, and reliability, with collaboration across IT teams and disaster recovery planning.

The ideal candidate brings extensive VMware ESX experience, strong capacity planning, and a track record in enterprise deployments.

Qualifications

13+ years of IT experience.
3+ years of government experience (Federal, State, or Local).
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification or 5+ additional years of VMware experience, subject to confirmation of the intended equivalency.
8+ years of experience in enterprise environments with known issues involving both SAN and VMware.
8+ years of experience with VMware ESX administration.
Experience with capacity planning based on technical analysis and research.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, support, and maintain VMware infrastructure solutions.
Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize server infrastructure to ensure stability and integrity of data and server services.
Troubleshoot VMware, SAN, hardware, software, and infrastructure issues and recommend technical solutions or workarounds.
Perform equipment and software upgrades, installations, configurations, testing, and ongoing monitoring.
Conduct technical research and capacity planning to support infrastructure requirements.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, networking, and other IT teams to understand requirements and resolve technical issues.
Develop and maintain deployment documentation and support procedures.
Assist with disaster recovery and failover scenarios.
Support infrastructure monitoring, security initiatives, and adherence to information security guidelines.
Manage and prioritize technical issues, maintain help desk records, provide timely status updates, and escalating complex issues when necessary.
Communicate technical findings, product issues, enhancements, and process improvements to team members and stakeholders.
