The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field, have at least two years of lab animal care experience, and be LAT certified by AALAS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience in laboratory animal care or animal husbandry.
• AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level is required.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and standards for animal care and welfare.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day Vivarium operations and oversee animal welfare issues.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to students and animal users; support protocol adherence.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, ensure IACUC regulatory compliance and proper documentation.
• Conduct daily inspections of animal housing and support areas and report findings.
• Perform technical procedures such as blood collection, dosing, tissue harvesting, and euthanasia as per IACUC protocols.
• Operate cage wash units, autoclaves, and other facility equipment; train others.
