Job summary

The University of North Texas System is seeking a Senior Lab Animal Technician to support the Vivarium Animal Lab in Denton. You will ensure high-quality animal care, mentor junior staff, and help maintain regulatory compliance under IACUC standards.

Reporting to the Research Animal Lab Manager, you will perform daily inspections, assist with procedures, train colleagues, and help develop SOPs while upholding institutional policies and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of lab animal care experience or equivalent.
• AALAS LAT certification required; knowledge of IACUC and regulatory standards.
• Ability to maintain records and follow SOPs accurately.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Vivarium operations and communicate animal welfare issues.
• Provide training and mentorship to students and staff.
• Develop and maintain SOPs; ensure regulatory compliance and records.
• Perform daily inspections of animal housing and support areas.
• Assist with procedures including blood collection, dosing, and euthanasia.
• Operate cage wash units, autoclaves, and other facility equipment.
• Coordinate animal and supply shipments and manage inventory.
