Senior Visual Audio Technician

Job Overview: Responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties necessary to ensure all of the organization’s technical production needs across its operations are met professionally and creatively. This includes overseeing the video and broadcast systems of its services and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)

1. Lead, research, and negotiate large-scale contracts & projects with external production vendors to supply the organization’s needs (e.g., with integration companies, AVL companies, etc.).
2. Lead live service technical support for all engineering systems and troubleshoot any technical issues.
3. Design and support the web streaming system for successful online transmission of services and events.
4. Manage the technical production team.
5. Develop, manage, and execute technical production needs for all ministry events, including technical and stage design, lighting, production, and post-production systems.
6. Design, install, and maintain broadcast and video production systems (cameras, switchers, servers, encoders, etc.).
7. Ensure all video and audio equipment operates at peak performance and troubleshoot issues.
8. Oversee live broadcasts, ensuring seamless video transmission with minimal latency or errors.
9. Provide technical support during live shows, events, or remote productions.
10. Manage and monitor video signal flow, routing, and switching for various feeds.
11. Diagnose and resolve technical failures in video, audio, and transmission systems.
12. Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for technical workflows.
13. Possess strong knowledge of streaming protocols (RTMP, HLS, SRT) and configure, troubleshoot, and optimize live streaming workflows.
14. Coordinate technical production staff, equipment, and logistics for mission trips and large-scale foreign outreach events.
15. Local, national, and international travel required.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and understand project drawings, schematics, engineering notes, and operation manuals.
• Experience with installation of AV systems including projection, displays, control systems, and signal routing.
• Ability to fabricate, cable, and test equipment racks and cabinets.
• Ability to hang projection screens, display panels, and related AV equipment.
• Proficient in using lifts, scaffolding, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
• Basic knowledge of network connectivity.
• Good interpersonal and time management skills.
• Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree or 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent.
