Job summary

Duke Health Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced virtualization engineer in North Carolina to administer, maintain, and optimize Duke’s enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix AHV, Cisco UCS) and related storage and backup systems.

You will lead Tier 3 incident management, drive patches and upgrades, and collaborate with server, storage, network, and application teams to ensure stability, performance, and recoverability across the environment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot system failures and resolve technical issues with VMware, Nutanix, AHV, Cisco UCS, and related data backup and recovery issues.
Perform maintenance on VMWare ESXi, Nutanix, Cisco UCS, and AHV, and migrations within the virtual environment.
Help establish and maintain patch management and system upgrades.
Document policies and changes to the technical environment.
Provide Tier 3 incident management and resolution for users in a courteous, customer-focused manner.
Communicate issues to team and management.
Assist monitoring team with automated system monitoring and reporting.
Coordinate with vendors and application/DB/OS staff to profile needs and environments.
Participate in the on-call schedule.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring for optimal performance and recoverability.
Perform other activities to meet organizational needs.
