Job description

The client is seeking a strategic, collaborative, people-centered Senior Vice President, Operations to lead a complex, multi-site food distribution operation moving approximately 51–55 million pounds of food annually to communities across Maryland. This senior executive role will be responsible for overseeing sourcing, warehousing, transportation, inventory control, and distribution, while ensuring food safety and compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in operations and supply chain/distribution/logistics in complex operating environments and will have the executive presence to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

The role provides leadership for a statewide operations team and supervises operations across multiple facilities in Central, Western, and Eastern Maryland, including oversight of more than 125,000 square feet of warehouse space across five facilities. Responsibilities also include managing a fleet of more than 30 vehicles and directing operational work covering supply chain, logistics, distribution, partner operations, inventory management, business intelligence, and project management. The Senior Vice President, Operations will develop and implement multi-year initiatives and annual operational objectives aligned to the organization’s long-term strategic plan, with a focus on delivering key initiatives efficiently and effectively.

The Senior Vice President, Operations will report to the Chief Impact and Operating Officer and serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to mission, culture, strategy, and operational execution. The position includes oversight of 65+ staff and direct leadership of functional areas such as Operations & Logistics, Sourcing, Partner Operations, and Operations Support. The client will expect the successful candidate to ensure team performance across multiple sites, strengthen operational systems, and continuously improve outcomes for partner network distribution, while maintaining strong standards of compliance and food safety.
