AiMinr, Inc. is seeking a Senior Vice President of Mining to lead the growth of our mining business, build trusted relationships with mining companies, and provide executive oversight of technical studies and major capital projects in mining. This hybrid role is based in Phoenix, Arizona, or Los Angeles, California, and requires domestic and international travel.
We are looking for a leader with demonstrated experience in mining consulting, mine operations, technical studies and mining capital project leadership. Experience in all four areas is required, together with a strong commercial background. You understand the decisions mine owners face, can translate their priorities into well-defined engagements, and can bring together the right specialists to deliver results.
As a trusted advisor to AiMinr's founders and CEO, you will help shape the company's mining strategy and guide key technical, operational and commercial decisions. This role centers on executive leadership: developing client relationships, winning work, directing experienced project leaders, and maintaining accountability for commercial and technical outcomes.
What you will lead
- Advising the founders and CEO: Provide candid, practical guidance on mining strategy, business opportunities, partnerships and project priorities. Translate complex technical, operational and commercial issues into clear recommendations, challenge assumptions constructively, and help the leadership team assess risks and make informed decisions.
- Client relationships: Build and deepen relationships with mining executives, project owners, technical leaders and industry partners. Serve as a senior advisor on development priorities, operating challenges and investment decisions.
- Mining capital project oversight: Guide multidisciplinary teams through studies, engineering, construction and commissioning of capital projects in mining. Establish clear scopes, capital budgets, schedules and decision points, and resolve issues that require executive attention.
- Commercial performance: Oversee engagement economics, delivery commitments, risk and client satisfaction. Align growth ambitions with the team's capacity to deliver.
- Industry representation: Represent the business in executive meetings, client presentations and industry forums, with a clear commitment to safety and responsible mine development.
Required experience and qualifications
- 20+ years of progressively responsible experience in mining, spanning consulting, operations, technical studies and capital projects.
- Mining consulting experience: Advising external clients, defining engagements and leading the delivery of consulting or engineering services.
- Mining operations experience: Leadership responsibility for mine operating performance, safety, productivity and costs.
- Technical studies experience: Leading or providing executive oversight of mining studies, including prefeasibility and feasibility studies, with accountability for technical quality, project economics and recommendations.
- Mining capital project experience: Leading or overseeing multidisciplinary teams through development, engineering, construction and commissioning of mining capital projects, with accountability for scope, capital expenditure, schedule and risk.
- At least 10 years of executive leadership experience, directing mining businesses, multidisciplinary teams or major project portfolios, with responsibility for client relationships, business growth and commercial performance.
- A strong, established network across the mining industry, including relationships with senior executives, mine owners, project developers and consulting or engineering partners, and a demonstrated ability to turn those relationships into strategic partnerships and new business.
- Success building executive relationships, winning significant assignments and growing a business, practice or portfolio of accounts.
- Technical credibility across the mine lifecycle, including studies, development, execution and operations, with the judgment to challenge assumptions and guide specialist teams.
- Experience overseeing complex projects and communicating technical, financial and delivery risks to senior decision-makers.
- Leadership of multidisciplinary teams and accountability for budgets, commercial performance or profit and loss.
- A degree in mining engineering, another relevant engineering discipline, geology or a related field; professional registration is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from Phoenix, Arizona, or Los Angeles, California, and travel domestically and internationally for clients and projects.
Relevant executive backgrounds may include Mining Business Leader, Managing Director, VP or SVP of Mining, Technical Services or Capital Projects, or COO with substantial client and business development responsibility. Candidates must meet the consulting, operations, technical studies and mining capital project experience requirements regardless of previous job title.
