Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society is seeking a Veterinary Technician at Kanab, Utah. The role supports veterinary services, animal care, and lifesaving missions within a sanctuary environment.

Opportunities begin with technician tasks and progress through senior specialist levels based on experience and responsibilities. Relocation help is available and shift times are flexible within a typical daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• Two years of veterinary medicine experience preferred
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program preferred but not required
• Bilingual/multilingual skills preferred but not required
• Customer-centric, non-judgmental approach with adopters, partners, visitors, volunteers

Responsibilities

• Perform medical care for dogs under veterinarian direction (injections, blood draws, vaccines, fluids, catheterization, microchipping)
• Maintain sterile techniques and surgical instrument knowledge; anesthesia monitoring and recovery
• Keep clean, organized clinical area and accurate medical data entry
• Support volunteers and foster parents; assist with aftercare and emergency support
• Care for dogs (feeding, cleaning, walking, socialization) and ensure safety and welfare
• Collaborate with team to achieve lifesaving goals; follow policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe workplace and report unsafe practices or conditions
