Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society is seeking Veterinary Specialists in Cat World to provide high-quality medical care and support lifesaving programs. You will perform medical tasks under veterinarians, assist volunteers, and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment in Kanab, Utah.

Relocation assistance may be available. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient care, and community education, with a shift from 8am-5pm, five days per week, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Some formal education from an AVMA accredited veterinary technician certification program preferred but not required.
• Two years of working experience in a veterinary medicine setting or equivalent in an animal welfare/nonprofit setting preferred.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate kindness and the Golden Rule in everyday actions; be a role model for inclusion and respect for all participants.
• Perform basic medical care under veterinarian direction, including injections, blood draws, vaccinations, fluids, catheter placement and microchipping.
• Maintain a clean, disinfected work environment and accurate patient data records.
• Support and enable volunteers and foster parents to expand lifesaving capacity; assist with client communications including aftercare and emergency support.
• Provide basic animal care such as feeding, cleaning, walking, and socialization.
• Deliver superior customer service and maintain knowledge of programs.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve lifesaving goals and follow policies and procedures for daily tasks.
• Maintain a safe workplace and report unsafe practices.
