James Street Vet Hospital is seeking a Senior Veterinary Nurse (Part Time) to join our large, modern GP hospital. We offer a supportive team, four consults, two surgical suites, dental suite, and comprehensive facilities for patient care.

We value nurses who are confident in anaesthesia, imaging, wound management and rehabilitation, with opportunities for development and education. Flexibility includes Mon 8–4, Wed & Fri 8–6, and potential additional hours.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV Vet Nurse or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology.
• Experience delivering high-level nursing care and anaesthesia.
• Ability to lead junior nurses and maintain clinical standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-level nursing care across all clinic areas.
• Lead and support junior nurses in clinical development.
• Perform and oversee anaesthetic monitoring and surgical nursing.
• Place IV catheters, collect blood, and provide advanced patient care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and infection control.
• Support client communication with professionalism and empathy.
• Contribute to efficient clinic workflow and standards of care.

SENIOR VETERINARY NURSE I PART TIME

Welcome to our large modern vet hospital and accredited Hospital of Excellence. We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Vet Nurse to join our high performing team.

Are you looking for flexible hours in a GP hospital that empowers their senior nurses and invests in advancing their skills?

Our clients consider us to be the best vet and nursing team in the area, providing the highest standards of care and services to our community. We have four consults, 2 surgical suites, dental suite, fully equipped laboratory and pharmacy, separate dog and cat waiting areas and wards, large treatment room, IM3 radiology, ultrasound and more.

We have an interesting case load across our four veterinarians, promote excellent teamwork and communications including morning and afternoon rounds and have a shared rotating roster across Surgery, Hospital, Procedures and Consulting.

We’re looking for an exceptional nurse who enjoys all aspects of surgery, hospital and nurse consulting, that is confident or emerging in Anaesthesia, Analgesia, Imaging, Dental, Soft Tissue, Orthopaedic, Wound Management and Rehabilitation.

This opportunity may also suit an ECC nurse looking for a GP role with normal hours.

About the Role

• Mon 8-4pm, Wed & Fri 8-6pm with ability to pick up more hours if desired
• Deliver high-level veterinary nursing care across all areas of the clinic
• Lead and support junior nurses in their clinical development
• Perform and oversee anaesthetic monitoring and surgical nursing
• IV catheter placement, blood collection, and advanced patient care
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control and hospital cleanliness standards
• Support client communication and education with professionalism and empathy
• Assist in maintaining efficient clinic workflow and standards of care

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate IV Vet Nurse or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience post qualification
• Knowledge of Ezyvet and Smartflow would be advantageous but not necessary
• Proven rapport and communication skills with colleagues, clients and the community
