Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independently owned RCVS-accredited Veterinary Hospital renowned for its clinical standards, supportive culture and investment in both its people and facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to work in a genuinely independent environment where clinical freedom is encouraged, cases can be worked up to a high standard, and professional development is actively supported.

This long-established hospital has built an outstanding reputation within the local community and benefits from a loyal, growing client base. You'll be joining a close-knit team of highly experienced Veterinary Surgeons, each bringing over a decade of clinical experience, creating an excellent environment for collaboration, mentoring and ongoing development.

The practice is purpose-built and exceptionally well equipped, allowing clinicians to investigate and manage cases without unnecessary referral. Facilities include:

Facilities include:
  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring
  • Comprehensive in-house laboratory
  • Modern operating theatres
  • Separate dog, cat and isolation wards
  • Dedicated dental facilities
  • Spacious consultation rooms and prep areas

The team prides itself on delivering a high standard of first opinion care while maintaining a friendly, supportive atmosphere where ideas and clinical interests are encouraged.

This position offers genuine flexibility and would suit a Veterinary Surgeon seeking either a full-time position or reduced hours, with applications welcomed from those looking to work from three days per week.

The rota includes:
  • Flexible full-time or part-time hours
  • Minimum three-day week considered
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings only
  • No out-of-hours commitments
  • Early evening finish, with the practice closing promptly each day to promote an excellent work-life balance

The caseload is varied, providing an enjoyable balance of consultations, medicine and surgery, with clinical freedom to work cases up thoroughly and opportunities to pursue individual interests.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working within a collaborative team and values high-quality patient care. Whether you're looking to develop a clinical interest, undertake a certificate or simply work within a well-equipped hospital where you can practise excellent medicine, this role offers an outstanding platform to do so.

If you're looking for the benefits of a large hospital environment without the constraints often associated with corporate practice, this is an opportunity well worth exploring.
