Job summary

Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a Veterinarian to oversee care of research animals and provide guidance on USDA protocols within the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center. The role supports extension activities and is funded by grants, with renewal contingent on funding.

The ideal candidate holds a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with at least ten years of related experience and a Texas veterinary license, and will lead staff, maintain records, and ensure full regulatory

Qualifications

Knowledge of USDA regulations for animals in research and CITI training.
Veterinary health care knowledge and familiarity with reproductive technology.
Experience with animal care programs and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee veterinary care for goats, cattle, poultry and other species.
Oversee animal care program quality, husbandry, nutrition, sanitation, and welfare.
Assist researchers and graduate students with activities.
Supervise veterinary staff, performance evaluations and training.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and mandated training.
Maintain veterinary medical records.
