Job summary

Archer is seeking an experienced Sr Software Verification Engineer to join our San Jose team. You will verify safety-critical software for the aircraft battery management system and develop comprehensive test plans and automation scripts in C/C++, Python.

You will execute SIL/HIL testing, perform defect analysis with embedded teams, and ensure DO-178C compliant verification across the full lifecycle, including requirements traceability and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a related field.
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++ for code analysis and scripting languages (like Python) for test automation.
• Familiarity with safety critical software development and verification standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262, ASIL) to high criticality levels (DAL-A/B or ASIL C/D).
• Hands-on experience through the Full Software Verification Life Cycle, including requirement traceability and verification reporting.
• Experience testing low-level communication protocols (CAN, RS-422/485, ARINC-429, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
• Working knowledge of sensor technologies and measurement techniques for high-voltage battery systems.

Responsibilities

• Verify and validate safety-critical software components for the aircraft battery management system (BMS) per DO-178C.
• Design, develop, and document test plans, test cases, and procedures from requirements.
• Execute SIL and HIL testing to verify battery algorithms and low-level drivers.
• Identify and track software defects; collaborate with embedded developers to analyze root causes and verify fixes.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks (C/C++, Python).
• Design and execute tests to verify fault detection and diagnostic algorithms.
• Analyze sensor data and test results to ensure state estimation and protection performance.
