Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Body Structures and Closures Vehicle Systems Engineer to serve as the chief integrator for Body Structures and Closures systems across BIW, seals, sheet metal, chassis, and related components. The role requires 5+ years in design release and strong cross-functional influence to ensure vehicle-level performance, quality, and cost targets.

You will collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Studio, Program Teams, and Validation to deliver on-time, cost-competitive

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
5+ years as a Design Release Engineer within Body Structures and/or Closures.
Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and align cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

System integration and program leadership across Body Structure and Closures SMT.
Lead structured problem solving, root-cause analysis, and data-driven decisions.
Identify issues at component and vehicle levels and balance cost, manufacturability, and customer experience.
Provide executive-ready updates and align stakeholders to keep programs on track.
Drive risk management and long-range planning to meet milestones and budgets.
