Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a design and release engineer to own a portion of the forward model platform, guiding the design to meet system metrics such as safety, cost, weight, and manufacturing feasibility. The role involves co-developing new materials and technologies across multiple vehicle programs.

Qualifications include a BS+ in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science, 5+ years in structures design, CATIA 3DX experience, and strong problem-solving with 8D/5Why skills.

Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
• Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in structures design and release engineering
• Broad exposure to various vehicle types and material types (Body-On-Frame Truck, Unibody SUV, steel, aluminum, etc.)
• Experience with Catia 3dx or an equivalent advanced CAD and PLM system required
• Experience of joining technologies RSW, GMAW, SPR, bolting and adhesives required
• Experience of BIW sealing is plus
• Experience in technology development; patent development and implementation a plus
• Ability to work in a fluid environment when overall vehicle targets, size, appearance, and manufacturing location are not always known
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Microsoft Office experience
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills

Responsibilities
