Job summary

General Motors' Senior System and System Safety Engineer role focuses on Vehicle Dynamics State Estimation and Motion Control, with ownership of the VDSE safety case and cross-functional collaboration to define requirements and verify them through analysis, simulation, and testing.

You will apply model-based systems engineering to improve traceability, design quality, and integration strategies while supporting safety-critical features across GM's global vehicle portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in systems engineering or functional safety.
• Experience developing or integrating embedded control systems.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 or IEC 61508, IEC 62304, or DO-178C.
• Valid driver's license for test vehicles

Responsibilities

• Lead the VDSE system safety case for GM vehicle programs.
• Define functional and performance requirements with cross-functional teams.
• Perform hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, FMEA, and interface analysis.
• Cascade requirements to impacted organizations with traceability.
• Guide verification through analysis, simulation, and testing (HIL and vehicles).
• Use model-based systems engineering to improve traceability and design quality
