Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced software validation engineer to lead diagnostic programming and vehicle-communication workflow validation. You will develop test plans for vehicle, bench, and lab environments and investigate complex failures in ECU programming and tool-to-vehicle interactions.

You will analyze logs with Wireshark, CANoe, and Lauterbach, drive root-cause analyses, and validate software releases through comprehensive testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical/soft engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in software validation, software test engineering, or system-level software integration testing.
• Hands-on experience testing and validating software apps, esp. automotive diagnostics or vehicle communications.
• Solid understanding of testing methodologies, defect management, and root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of CAN, UDS, DoIP, GMLAN, SAE J1850.
• Experience with diagnostic workflows involving vehicle tools and interfaces.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or Java.
• Experience reading communication logs and traces.
• Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture and HW/SW interaction points.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead validation efforts for diagnostic programming and vehicle workflows.
• Develop and execute test plans across vehicle, bench, and lab environments.
• Investigate failures in vehicle communication and tool-vehicle interactions.
• Drive root-cause isolation, defect documentation, and corrective-action validation.
• Validate software releases through regression, stress, and performance testing.
• Analyze logs and traces from Wireshark, CAN loggers, and Lauterbach tools.
• Support bench and hardware-in-the-loop validation activities.
• Collaborate with software, subsystem, product engineering, and validation teams.
• Analyze results and recommend software improvements and automation opportunities.
• Create and maintain validation reports, test records, and lessons learned.
• Improve validation processes, bench strategies, and test coverage.
