Job summary

Weill Cornell Medicine's MCC Laboratories in New York invites applications for a Senior Principal Scientist – Vector Development. Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Virology, Genetic Engineering, Synthetic Biology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience in gene delivery or molecular cloning.
  • Proven track record designing and implementing complex genetic constructs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, construction, and optimization of complex plasmid systems for lentiviral vectors with multi-gene cargos.
  • Lead engineering of self-inactivating lentiviral backbones and optimize element interactions.
  • Develop transposon-based systems with donor vector architecture and transposase strategies.
  • Design site-specific CRISPR/transposon integration approaches.
  • Engineer expression systems for constitutive/inducible/multiplexed gene expression in ex vivo/in vivo T cell engineering.
  • Define platform constraints and recommend delivery approaches.
  • Lead development of innovative mRNA delivery constructs to maximize stability and translation.
  • Provide cross-functional technical leadership across vector production, cell engineering, and validation.
  • Mentor scientists and researchers and drive data-driven decisions.
