Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a VDC Manager to lead the development and execution of VDC systems on Cedar Rapids projects and nationwide. You will coordinate 3D/4D/5D models, drones, reality capture, and BIM workflows with project teams to improve design, construction, and commissioning.

As a senior contributor, you will mentor staff, manage models (site, coordination, as-built), produce VO cost analyses, and drive continuous improvement through VDC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an industry-related field or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years in architectural services, construction or manufacturing with at least two years in VDC/BIM management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong Autodesk software (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) and familiarity with VDC tools (SketchUp, Fuzor, InfraWorks); ability to learn other software (JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling).
• Experience with drones (FAA Part 107), LiDAR, reality capture and data processing.
• LEAN principles desirable; OSHA 10 or 30 preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Skills: initiative, independent judgment, project management, leadership, client relations, decision making.

Responsibilities

• Apply VDC technologies onsite with project teams.
• Provide expertise on drones, robotics, laser scanning, reality capture.
• Leverage 3D/4D/5D content to design, manage and implement VDC systems.
• Streamline workflows between departments including preconstruction and field operations.
• Lead VDC training sessions with the learning and development team.
• Test and implement new software/hardware as approved by VDC leader; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Produce VDC estimates and cost analysis as requested.
• Maintain VDC standards and update practices as needed.
• Analyze metrics, identify improvement areas, propose solutions.
• Mentor team members and delegate tasks for development.
• Support marketing and business development of VDC capabilities.
• Present VDC capabilities to owners, architects, and project teams.
• Stay current with latest software/technology and identify areas for improvement.
