Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Sr. Value Engineer to lead enterprise-wide value engineering efforts across the product lifecycle. You will standardize processes, drive cost-saving initiatives, and collaborate across design, manufacturing, and suppliers to maximize value.

You will develop and deliver training, facilitate workshops, and guide cross-functional teams inShould Cost modeling, DFx, and process improvements. On-site role with travel to suppliers up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of value engineering and/or value analysis processes and tools.
• Product design and analysis skills, including ability to interpret detailed drawings and execute tolerance stack-ups for assemblies.
• Familiar with common manufacturing processes to produce low and high-volume components and assemblies.
• Strong technical skills involving problem solving, DFM, and should-cost/could-cost.
• Demonstrated knowledge of component manufacturing processes in the medical device industry (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience training and/or facilitating value engineering workshops is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with medical device design, control and validation regulatory requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Value Engineering Processes and embed them into Intuitive's broader business practices.
• Collaboratively lead identification, assessment, recommendation and implementation of Value Engineering Tools.
• Become a subject matter resource on value engineering methodologies and facilitate workshops.
• Develop training to support embed the value engineering capability within the enterprise.
• Collaborate with the extended enterprise to drive Value Engineering opportunities.
• Influence supplier technology roadmaps to meet system and instrument requirements.
• Define criteria/guidelines for design for manufacturing based on process.
