Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Staff Value Engineer to lead enterprise-wide value engineering and drive cost, quality, and scale across the full product lifecycle.

You will implement Should Cost modeling, DFx, and value engineering workshops, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. Strong manufacturing and medical device experience, plus travel up to 20%, are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of value engineering and/or value analysis processes and tools.
• Product design and analysis skills, including ability to interpret detailed drawings and execute tolerance stack-ups for assemblies.
• Familiar with common manufacturing processes used for low and high-volume components and assemblies.
• Strong technical skills involving problem solving, DFM, and should-cost/could-cost.
• Experience with medical device component manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience training or facilitating workshops is a plus.
• Familiarity with medical device design, control and validation regulatory requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Value Engineering processes and embed into broader business practices.
• Lead identification, assessment, recommendation and implementation of Value Engineering Tools (Should Cost, etc.).
• Facilitate Value Engineering workshops as required.
• Develop training to embed value engineering capability within the enterprise.
• Collaborate with extended enterprise to drive Value Engineering opportunities into focused actions.
• Influence supplier technology roadmaps to meet Intuitive requirements.
• Define design for manufacturing criteria and best practices for qualifying components.
