Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Engineer - Value Engineering (Finance) to lead enterprise‑wide VE efforts across the product lifecycle.

You will anchor cross‑functional VE processes, embed best practices, and drive cost/quality improvements with Should Cost modeling and DFx guidance. The role requires deep VE expertise, ability to lead workshops, and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams in a fast‑paced med‑tech environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of value engineering and/or value analysis processes and tools.
• Ability to interpret detailed drawings and perform tolerance stack-ups for assemblies.
• Familiar with manufacturing processes for low and high‑volume components and assemblies.
• Strong problem solving, DFM, and should‑cost/could‑cost skills.
• Experience with medical device component manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, machining).
• Strong verbal and written communication, excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience training/facilitating value engineering workshops is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with medical device design, control and validation regulatory requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Value Engineering processes embedded into PDP and standardize best practices.
• Lead identification, assessment, recommendation and implementation of VE Tools (Should Cost, DFx).
• Serve as a subject matter resource on VE methodologies and facilitate VE workshops.
• Develop training to embed VE capability within the extended enterprise.
• Collaborate with the extended enterprise to drive VE opportunities into focused actions.
• Influence supplier technology roadmaps to meet system and instrument requirements.
• Define DFx criteria and guidelines for design for manufacturing.
