Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. is hiring a Senior System Validation and Automation Engineer for our Waukesha, WI location.

You will own system-level validation planning and execution for power electronics, energy storage, and connected energy products, combining hands-on electrical testing with Python automation. You will collaborate with hardware and firmware teams, create DVPRs, analyze failures, and drive test coverage and repeatability while mentoring junior engineers in testing practices and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline (master preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant validation or testing experience in power electronics, energy storage, or embedded electrical systems.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation, instrument or device control, and data analysis.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical hardware and interpreting schematics, measurements, and system behavior.

Responsibilities

• Lead system validation for assigned products and releases, owning test planning, execution, reporting, and completion.
• Translate requirements and risks into validation plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automated tests and reusable libraries for scalable testing.
• Design test setups with lab instruments and power equipment, integrate devices and communication interfaces.
• Develop DVPRs using DFMEA inputs to address gaps in coverage.
• Investigate failures with measurements, traces, logs, and data; collaborate for root-cause analysis.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, results, and defects; mentor junior engineers.
