Job summary

Seagate Technology seeks a Sr. Vacuum Equipment Engineer to join the Bloomington, MN team.

You will own the development and deployment of vacuum tooling across deposition, etching, and annealing processes in a high‑vacuum manufacturing environment, driving tool performance and reducing variability. You will implement automated control systems, KPIVs, and maintenance plans, collaborating with technicians and engineers while applying AI and machine learning to optimize operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field; 5+ years experience, or Master's with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years.
• Experience with vacuum‑related tooling and processes in high‑to‑ultra‑high‑vacuum environments.
• Knowledge of DOE, Six Sigma, and data analysis to optimize tool performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy vacuum equipment (deposition, reactive etching, annealing) in a manufacturing setting.
• Oversee equipment issues, scrap, MDA, cycle‑time reduction, and multi‑path maintenance.
• Create factory automation using C#, Python, and R to improve tool performance.
• Implement KPIV controls, OCAPs, PM plans, and safety processes across multiple tools.
