Job summary

Aspida seeks a Principal UX Designer to lead high-impact design strategy across product lines, mentor a team of designers, and own research integration. This hybrid role requires onsite presence at the Durham office three days a week and a track record of shaping experience architecture and design systems.

You will balance hands-on design with people leadership, coach researchers, and guide AI-enabled design workflows while maintaining rigor and accessibility.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in product design with leadership at portfolio level.
• Proven ability to shape design systems, patterns, and standards across multiple teams.
• Experience coaching designers and leading design reviews and QA.

Responsibilities

• Lead ambiguous, high-impact design strategy across product lines.
• Shape experience architecture and major design patterns used across the design system.
• Drive design system maturity and consistency across product areas.
• Influence executive-level product decisions through strategic design thinking.
• Lead portfolio-level journey design where problem space is not well defined.
• Manage designers, including staffing, performance, and career development.
• Coach designers on research methods and ensure rigorous research practices.
