The Senior Utility Engineer will provide engineering and technical support for a portfolio of electric utility substation capital projects. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, engineering consultants, and internal stakeholders to coordinate engineering activities, review technical deliverables, and ensure projects remain on schedule while meeting utility standards.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting substation projects, strong technical and communication skills, and enjoys collaborating across multiple teams to drive successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review engineering drawings, design packages, specifications, and technical documentation for substation capital projects.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables between internal stakeholders, Project Managers, and external engineering consultants.
- Support engineering reviews to ensure compliance with utility standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor engineering schedules, track deliverables, and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and periodic site visits to support engineering coordination and project execution.
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison between utility personnel, consultants, construction teams, and other project stakeholders.
- Review engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards and established engineering practices.
- Identify project risks, constraints, and opportunities to improve engineering processes and overall project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering experience supporting electric utility projects.
- Experience supporting electric utility substation engineering and capital project delivery.
- Strong understanding of substation engineering principles, utility standards, and engineering documentation.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, design packages, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites up to two (2) times per month.
