Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support high‑voltage substation projects. The role requires strong electrical engineering knowledge, client interaction, and a track record of managing design packages from permitting through closeout.

Hybrid work arrangement is offered with 2 days in the office, and travel is 10–25% as needed for project and site activities. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry, with high‑voltage substation project exposure.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Strong knowledge of electrical substation engineering and design principles.
• Experience reviewing detailed engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and design packages.
• Experience with high-voltage utility engineering and construction standards.
• Strong understanding of project planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and project controls.
• Experience supporting projects through design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to work with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a complex project environment.
• Familiarity with ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NEC, and NESC codes.
• Experience with industry-specific engineering and design software.

Required Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NEC, and NESC.
• Experience with industry-specific engineering and design software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS).
• Experience developing or reviewing single-line diagrams, physical substation layouts, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Experience with transmission line projects.
• EPC or engineering consulting experience.
• Experience working directly with external utility customers.
• Experience with project proposals, estimates, and project development.
