Job summary

Gdbgeospatial in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Utility Coordinator to lead coordination efforts for DOT projects, resolve design conflicts, and supervise utility coordinators. You will interact with DOT, city, county and developer teams, manage budgets, and drive project milestones from scoping through approval.

The role requires strong communication and negotiation skills, with 4+ years in utility coordination on DOT projects and a BS/BA or equivalent experience. PE license a plus.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience in preparing agreements for relocating utilities in accordance with local, state and federal utility accommodation processes.
  • 4+ years’ experience as a utility coordinator on state DOT projects or comparable utility company experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience managing project budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Attend project scoping meetings and provide input and recommendations relative to utilities.
  • Provide input to develop scope and fee proposals with the Utility Coordination Manager.
  • Oversee Utility Coordinators to meet client, owner and company requirements.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings to keep milestones on track.
  • Assist in ensuring DL goals for the Utility Coordination Team are met.
  • Maintain existing clients and perform business development.
  • Coordinate the utility adjustment process for roadway and utility projects.
  • Identify Utility Conflicts and resolve using Subsurface Utility Engineering data and plans.
  • Review and prepare Utility Agreement Assemblies.
  • Review relocation plans for constructibility and DOT compliance.

Job description

Responsibilities

This position reports to the Utility Coordination Manager and works with Project Managers, Engineers, and Technicians to provide assistance, technical support, and coordination for utility adjustment efforts to resolve design conflicts with utilities impacted by projects associated with the Department of Transportation (DOT) throughout the region. Works directly with associated DOT, City, County and Developer led projects. These projects include utility coordination associated with maintenance, rehabilitation, improvements and reconstruction of ongoing projects for the DOT.

  • Attend project scoping meetings and provide input and recommendations relative to utilities
  • Provide Utility Coordination Manager with project details to assist with the development of scope and fee proposals
  • Provide oversight and guidance of Utility Coordinators, ensuring that client, owner and Company requirements are met
  • Conduct regular project status meetings with Utility Coordinators to ensure project milestones and deliverables are on track
  • Assist the Utility Coordination Manager in ensuring that Direct Labor (DL) goals for the Utility Coordination Team are met
  • Maintains existing clients and performs business development
  • Responsible for the coordination of the utility adjustment process for roadway and utility improvement projects
  • Determination of Utility Conflict and conflict resolution using Subsurface Utility Engineering data and design plans
  • Preparation and submission of Utility Agreement Assemblies
  • Receipt and review of utility relocation plans to ensure that such materials are constructible, do not pose conflicts with other utility relocations, accommodate the project and adhere to DOT requirements
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals
Qualifications
  • 4 + years’ experience in preparing agreements for relocating utilities in accordance to local, state and federal utility accommodation processes and practices
  • 4 + years’ experience as a utility coordinator on state DOT projects or comparable experience working for utility companies
  • 4 + years’ managing project budgets
  • Experience in proving Utility Coordination services for Design-Build projects
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills
  • 4 + years’ supervisory experience of multiple projects and personnel
  • BS/BA and/or equivalent experience
  • State DOT pre-certifications to function as a Utility Coordination task lead
  • Professional Engineer license a plus
