Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a MicroStation / ORD Technician to support projects by processing data, performing quality control, and assisting with deliverables. You will work with project teams to meet client requirements and maintain data accuracy.

Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, you’ll help coordinate utility design data and ensure compliance with SAM and GDOT standards while delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferably in construction, engineering, computers, or drafting) or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of MicroStation / ORD drafting experience in utility engineering, utility mapping, utility coordination, or related fields. Previous experience working on GDOT projects
  • Proficiency in MicroStation / ORD, or similar software for drafting
  • Understanding of utility engineering principles
  • Familiarity with survey data, geospatial information, and field‑collected utility data is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and compliance
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with project managers and upper management
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and support multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Process utility design files from each utility involved with a project, maintain company standards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GDOT styles, formats and expectations
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure client‑specific requirements and project deadlines are met
  • Assist with quality control (QC) of client‑specific deliverables to ensure accuracy and adherence to SAM standards
  • Monitor / oversee multiple utility coordination projects, perform quality assurance, providing feedback as needed
  • Conduct initial quality checks on Utility Design / Concepts to make sure all utilities have proper clearance to perform their work without conflict
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support company strategic goals

Your Impact at SAM

The MicroStation / ORD Technician plays a key role in supporting projects by processing collected data, ensuring quality control, and assisting with project deliverables. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency in MicroStation / ORD and the ability to collaborate with project teams to meet client requirements. Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, the UC MicroStation / ORD Technician will assist in maintaining data accuracy, working with the utility coordinators, and ensuring compliance with GDOT and SAM standards.

What You Bring to SAM
