Job summary

Henkels & McCoy West, LLC. is seeking an Estimator II in the Power and Utilities sector to prepare bid estimates for transmission, substation, and distribution projects across the Western United States, including California.

You will develop pricing strategies and support bid reviews. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of utility estimating experience, familiarity with IOUs and cooperatives, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office; reading drawings and procurement docs is essential,

Qualifications

5+ years of estimating experience within the electric utility construction industry.
Experience preparing bids for transmission, substation, and/or distribution projects.
Direct experience with IOUs, municipal utilities, electric cooperatives.
Knowledge of utility construction methods, cost estimating principles.
Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
Ability to read utility drawings and procurement documents.
PMM training completion and formal Project Management coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for power transmission, substation, and distribution construction projects.
Analyze utility bid packages, drawings, specifications, and contracts issued by IOUs and utilities.
Develop labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material pricing strategies for utility projects.
Lead bid reviews and risk assessments for EPC, unit-price, and design-build models.
Maintain relationships with utility clients, vendors, and internal teams to support bid development.
