Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. in the United States seeks an Estimator I – Power Utilities to prepare detailed cost estimates for electric utility projects, including distribution, transmission, substations, and storm restoration work.

Under supervision, you will assist with bid preparation, develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor estimates, and coordinate with operations, engineering, and supply chain to ensure accurate pricing and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction estimating within electric utilities preferred.
• Ability to read utility drawings and specs.
• Familiarity with utility construction methods.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.
• Bachelor's degree in CM, Engineering, or related field; 1-3 years estimating experience.
• Able to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electric utility projects.
• Analyze bid documents and standards to develop pricing.
• Develop labor, equipment, and material estimates.
• Assist with estimating for long-term programs.
• Participate in site visits to assess conditions.
• Support change order pricing and scope changes.
• Maintain bid documentation and backups.
• Coordinate with operations, engineering, supply chain, and project management.
• Assist in developing estimating guidelines and cost models.
• Interface with utility clients and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure estimates meet safety and regulatory requirements.
