Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates for complex utility and infrastructure projects. This role supports bid execution and preconstruction strategy, partnering with operations, project management, and business development to win projects.

The Senior Estimator also serves as a technical resource and mentor to junior estimators, driving consistency and best practices across estimating efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CM/Engineering/Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in utility or heavy civil infrastructure.
• Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and spreadsheets.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for utility infrastructure projects.
• Review quantity takeoffs, labor, equipment, and material pricing; assess subcontractor quotes.
• Analyze drawings and contract documents to ensure accurate scope capture.
• Collaborate with operations and project management to align estimates with execution.
• Participate in bid reviews and go/no-go decisions.
• Support value engineering and cost optimization during preconstruction.
