Job summary

Sarasota County Public Utilities is seeking an Engineer to plan and improve water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems that serve the community. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with direct experience in water, wastewater and reclaimed water system design and operations.
• Master's degree with related experience for advanced roles and leadership; PE or PG licensure required/preferred.
• Licensed P.E. or P.G. is required or must be obtained in a reasonable timeframe.
• Valid Florida driver's license at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing utility system capacity and plan infrastructure improvements.
• Manage utility oversizing agreements and developer reimbursement processes.
• Coordinate interlocal agreements between Sarasota County and other entities.
• Provide technical support for CIP projects, site reviews, and utility issues.
• Plan and implement water, wastewater, and reclaimed water system improvements.
• Oversee design consultants and construction contractors to meet schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate with FDEP, FDOT and other agencies on projects.
• Develop project scopes with operations and prepare permit documentation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Master's degree in Civil Engineering

Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) licensed

Florida driver's license
