Job summary

City of Boynton Beach is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic for advanced repair and preventive maintenance of water treatment facilities and related infrastructure. You will supervise a mechanics team, coordinate safe work practices, and monitor SCADA systems to ensure reliable operation of pumps, tanks and controls.

The role requires technical training, utility experience, and licenses (Florida Level III/Operator C, CDL, forklift).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and technical training in mechanical wastewater systems.
• Minimum three years in a utility (Public Water Treatment/Wellfields) field.
• Florida Level III Water Distribution or Water Treatment Plant Operator C License required.
• Valid Florida Class B CDL and forklift certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of mechanics for safe repair/maintenance of water plant machinery.
• Monitors SCADA alarms; coordinates response to plant and wellfield issues.
• Maintains records, reviews work status, and schedules repairs.
• Repairs, maintains and upgrades plant equipment including pumps, valves and controls.
• Operates various tools and equipment; ensures safety and compliance.
