Job summary

ING Americas Finance in New York seeks a senior-level contractor to lead the U.S. GAAP implementation for a foreign banking branch. The role spans policy-to-process translation, desktop procedures, materiality assessments, and establishing robust controls and governance under supervisor guidance.

The right candidate has 7+ years of US GAAP experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Hybrid work arrangement in the NYC area is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in US GAAP or related area.
• Experience with accounting-system implementations, including GL design, interfaces, mapping, reconciliations, and data lineage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Validate requirements and identify gaps in the US GAAP implementation completed to date.
• Define the future-state BAU operating model for US GAAP, including procedures, controls and governance.
• Evaluate whether GAAP requirements are translated into configurations, journal logic, and reporting outputs; propose sustainable controls.
• Perform materiality assessments and analyses on topics such as effective interest rate and loan modification accounting.
• Prepare status reports to the U.S. Accounting Committee with decisions, risks, dependencies, and actions.
