Job summary

City of North Miami Beach is seeking a professional planning position to support the Planning and Zoning Division of the Community Development Department. You will assist with master plans, zoning implementation, and demographic research, using GIS and data presentation.

The role requires independent judgment, strong communication, and the ability to work on multiple planning projects, including coordination with external agencies and public involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related field with 3–5 years of experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• GIS (ArcView) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to interact with the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection, compilation, assimilation and presentation of planning data.
• Develop master plans for land use and community facilities.
• Assist with plan implementation including zoning regulation development and administration.
• Perform GIS mapping and analyze data for planning studies and reports.
• Prepare staff reports and present to the Planning and Zoning Board.
• Coordinate with external agencies and city divisions; support grants and special projects.
• Maintain records, coordinate website content and participate in public meetings.
