Job summary

New Mexico Mutual is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead its underwriting teams in alignment with risk appetite and strategic goals. The role partners with the Director of Underwriting to expand opportunities, improve customer service, and drive innovation.

You will oversee workflow, monitor production, participate in recruiting and staff development, and guide complex accounts while ensuring compliance and effective use of technology in underwriting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a business-related field.
• Minimum seven years of property and casualty underwriting experience, including at least two years in a leadership role.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• CPCU or AU designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages department workflow and monitors daily productivity.
• Participates in recruitment, training and development of staff.
• Provides authoritative guidance on complex accounts and underwriting issues.
• Oversees innovative technology projects that enhance underwriting operations.
• Ensures compliance with rules and regulations impacting policy contracts.
