Job summary

Zurich North America in Seattle seeks an AVP Underwriting Manager - Middle Market to lead the West region production underwriting team, with a hybrid schedule and in-office/market presence three days per week.

The role emphasizes technical underwriting leadership, staff development, and broker relationships across diverse industries, with travel as necessary to support the team and market activity. Strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic execution are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in underwriting or market-facing area, OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years in claims or Under Support area, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5+ years in underwriting or market-facing area.
• 2+ years of management experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and CPCU are preferred
• Knowledge of product lines and insurance industry advantageous
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Property & Casualty production Underwriters.
• Travel as needed to support the team and broker relationships.
• Lead with technical underwriting, staff development and sales execution mindset.
