Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced VP, Senior Underwriting Manager for our Group Captives Team. The role can be remote or hybrid into a Zurich office, with travel up to 50% internationally.

You will lead market-facing underwriters, drive growth with key distributors, and negotiate terms for complex commercial insurance placements. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years in underwriting or 20+ years in underwriting support, plus 2+ years of people management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in underwriting or risk management within Commercial Insurance, or 20+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Experience in a specialized line of business or segment.
• 2+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage market-facing underwriters who pursue renewal and new account opportunities.
• Identify growth opportunities with key distributors; oversee terms and conditions negotiations.
• Ensure cross-sell to increase product density; provide coaching on sales best practices.
• Calculate target price using underwriting tools and market trends; work with actuarial for rate structure.
• Develop and maintain broker relationships to drive profitable growth and market share.
• Travel at least 50% internationally.
