Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) seeks an Underwriting Manager to lead the Excess & Surplus Lines Small Commercial unit in Boston or Atlanta. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in property and casualty underwriting, with surplus lines experience, and knowledge of GL and Property coverage.

The role requires strong collaboration and at least four days in the office weekly. You will grow the small commercial book, set underwriting appetite, and partner with distribution to expand market

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in Small Commercial insurance underwriting.
• Technical underwriting skills in property & casualty.
• Experience underwriting General Liability & Property.
• Experience interpreting policy forms.
• Ability to work from Boston or Atlanta office at least four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Support growth of the E&S Small Commercial book.
• Evaluate, select, and price GL & Property accounts.
• Apply underwriting judgment to assess risk.
• Build relationships with distribution partners.
• Develop underwriting appetite, guidelines, and policy forms.
• Collaborate with internal partners on the new E&S Small Commercial product.
• Represent BHSI with integrity and leadership.
