Job summary

You will collaborate with sales staff, serve as the primary contact for agents, and coordinate with rating, claims, and engineering to handle accounts. Five years of commercial property/casualty underwriting experience and a four-year degree are required.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree completed or in progress.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with seasonal volume.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Insurance curriculum classes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new and renewal program business for acceptability based on guidelines.
• Reviews applications, coverages, classifications, exposures, financial condition, loss information, and engineering reports; discusses pricing with producer/agent.
• Quotes accounts within authority and works with rating department to achieve pricing terms.
• Serves as primary contact for agents and brokers; interfaces between carrier and agents/brokers.
• Initiates new business development efforts with assigned agents.
• Coordinates with other departments to obtain necessary information for handling accounts.
