Job summary

Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America is seeking a Sr. Underwriter who will evaluate, price, and manage complex cases across dental, vision, life, and disability lines to support profitable growth and financial performance.

You will lead the underwriting lifecycle, propose rates, renewals, and contracts, and mentor junior staff while driving process improvements and underwriting strategy in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field.
• 5+ years of underwriting experience, including groups up to 999 lives.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates risk and develops, reviews, and approves rates per rating formulas.
• Responds to Sales & Account Management requests and manages assignments to meet profitability expectations.
• Develops and approves new business rates, proposals, and contracts for assigned book of business.
• Develops and approves renewal rates and contracts.
• Creates rating and underwriting reports to support Sales & Account Management.
• Provides technical guidance in rating methodology, contract language, and bid responses to sales staff.
• Provides underwriting guidance and sales support for agents, brokers, and groups; prepares presentations.
• Mentors underwriting staff and leads underwriting programs and projects.
• Audits and reviews other underwriters’ work for quality and effectiveness.
