Job summary

Allied Public Risk, LLC, a subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, seeks a Senior Underwriter for public entities insurance. This is a full-time remote role based in Harrisburg, PA, US, with a salary of $90,000 to $100,000 per year. The position includes bonus potential and a full benefits package.

You will work with the Lead Underwriter to manage production, pricing, and risk review for new business and renewals while developing expertise in managing public entity programs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years underwriting public entities insurance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
• Public Entity and Municipality experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production, underwriting, and profitability of the book of business to meet targets.
• Review new submissions for risk qualification, required docs, and pricing.
• Analyze loss runs and calculate loss ratios for quotes and renewals.
• Prepare referrals outside authority for Lead Underwriter review or submission to Company.
• Aim for new business hit ratio and renewal retention goals.
• Assist in technical training for new underwriters and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Coordinate with UW Support to issue accurate policies and endorsements.
• Participate in new business development per the program plan.
• Maintain relationships with production sources to support client retention.
• Strengthen carrier relationships to bolster underwriting confidence.
• Collaborate with Lead Underwriter to enhance APR’s profile through broker calls.
• Meet targets for response time, quoting, binding, and endorsements.
• Develop expertise in primary and excess private/nonprofit entity coverage.

Senior Underwriter - Public Entities Insurance (Remote)

Full-time Regular Harrisburg, PA, US

Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

Allied Public Risk, LLC, a subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, an exclusive underwriting manager of customized management liability products for public entities, seeks a full-time Senior Underwriter to join its team remotely.

Salary Range: 90,000-100,000 USD per year

Responsibilities:

• Works with Lead Underwriter to oversee production, underwriting, and profitability of book of business (new business and renewals) as to meet or exceed annual production and profitability targets;
• Accountable for reviewing assigned new business submissions to verify that the risk qualifies, that all required underwriting documentation has been obtained, and that appropriate pricing has been determined;
• Ability to analyze loss runs and calculate loss ratios. This skill set needs to be used when underwriting and quoting new business and renewals;
• Will prepare referrals on accounts outside of their authority and send to Lead Underwriter for review and approval for release or submission to Company; May handle direct referrals to Company, particularly as tenure is attained.
• Achieve new business hit ratio and renewal retention goals;
• Assist in technical training to new underwriting team members to ensure that all risks conform to AER underwriting guidelines and file documentation requirements;
• Coordinate with UW Support to issue error free policies and endorsements. Review and analyze complex policies.
• Participate in new business development in accordance with the Program’s business plan;
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with assigned production sources to ensure client retention and foster strategic alliances;
• Continue establishing strong Carrier relationships to ensure their confidence in your underwriting skills;
• Begin working with Lead Underwriter to participate in enhancing APR’s profile, including participating in broker marketing calls;
• Meet performance standards for response time, quoting, binding, issuance, endorsements, and other underwriting level responsibilities;
• Work toward becoming a subject matter expert regarding primary and excess private/nonprofit entity coverage and emerging issues in the management liability space.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
• Strong analytical skills;
• Solid computer skills and ability to independently use Microsoft Office Products;
• Strong negotiation skills combined with the ability to close new business opportunities;
• Flexibility for 0%-20% business travel;

Experience / Education:

• 2 or more years experience underwriting public entities insurance;
• Bachelor’s Degree, in Business, a related field, or equivalent education preferred;
• Public Entity and Municipality insurance experience a plus;
