Job summary

IAT Insurance Group seeks a Senior Underwriter for its Management Liability team, partnering with wholesalers to grow a profitable book for private and not-for-profit organizations. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in private not-for-profit underwriting and can work from Naperville, IL or Rolling Meadows, IL with a hybrid schedule.

Location flexibility includes other IAT sites for the right candidate; travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, or Business and 5+ years of management liability underwriting experience.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial statements.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts to pricing.
• Ability to creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles, or terms and conditions on individual risks to meet objectives.
• Strong math aptitude and excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Knowledge of computer programs and internet-based tools; proficient in spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Review underwriting files to accept new business or renewals within the authority level.
• Analyze documents to identify changes in exposure and minimize risk.
• Read and interpret contracts and policies to determine exposures and provide guidance.
• Provide coverage verification to team members consistent with experience.
• Cultivate relationships and drive engagement to achieve organizational goals.
• Promote inclusion and collaborate with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
• Market to assigned distributors to generate new business flow.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
