Job summary

Jobtailor in Plano, TX is seeking an experienced Inland Marine and Property Underwriter to manage and grow a profitable book across the region.

You will build agency partnerships, evaluate submissions, set pricing, analyze exposure, and ensure coverage meets client and broker needs, collaborating with claims and internal teams to resolve questions and close deals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4+ years underwriting experience in inland marine or property.
• Solid understanding of insurance pricing and market positioning.
• Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships to drive new and renewal business.
• Experience managing a book of business while contributing to growth.
• Strong skills in pricing, risk selection, and deal structuring.

• Review policy language and contracts to ensure coverage intent is clear—for both brokers and internal teams.
• Partner with claims and internal stakeholders to clarify coverage when questions arise.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience


• 4+ years of inland marine and/or property underwriting experience


• Solid understanding of the insurance marketplace, including pricing and competitive positioning


• Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships that drive new and renewal business


• Experience managing a book of business while contributing to growth


• Strong skills in pricing, risk selection, and deal structuring


• Working knowledge of industry trends, products, and the broader competitive landscape


• Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
