Job summary

Westfield Insurance is seeking an experienced production Underwriter for our Financial Institutions Retail team based in New York, NY. The role focuses on pursuing new business, servicing renewals, and delivering underwriting solutions to brokers while upholding high standards of underwriting care.

You will collaborate with retail brokers nationwide, concentrating on NY, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and West Coast regions, building a profitable portfolio across Private Equity Funds, Hedge Funds,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in Financial Lines and/or D&O underwriting; FI underwriting preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of Financial Lines products and underwriting practices.
• Bachelor's degree required; finance, business, economics, risk management, or related field preferred.
• Solid writing and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Willingness to travel.
• Onsite in-office 4 days per week where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support growth and profitability of the Financial Institutions portfolio.
• Develop and maintain understanding of underwriting objectives, appetite, and strategy within the territory.
• Underwrite new and renewal business per guidelines and standards.
• Analyze risk exposures, pricing adequacy, and coverage structures.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients to support retention.
• Participate in underwriting peer reviews and committee meetings.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product management functions.
• Gather market insights to support product development and initiatives.
• Represent the company at industry events, broker meetings, and client engagements.
• Travel as required to support business development.
